If you are planning to ski in the Pyrenees while you're staying at Maison Axiat there are 2 practical options.
Ax les Thermes is a 15-20 minute drive from the house and has 70km of slopes perfect for less demanding skiers and beginners.
You can drive straight up to Bonascre (photos above and below) and park within a few yards of the slopes or if you prefer the gondola station in Ax les Thermes is opposite the hire shop above so you can pick up your skis and walk across to the Gondola station which takes you directly up to the slopes at Bonascre.
*Please note that the directions for the ski hire shop above are wrong on their web site Ax Multigliss sport 2000 is actually located directly opposite the gondola station in Ax and you can park in the car park parallel to the river.
